Redheaded beauty!!

Y’all meet April!! What a doll baby to work with, we had sooooo much fun during her session and I can’t wait to get her back in for her next one!! Here is her story she wanted to share about this experience with us at Created Wonderfully Boudoir! Enjoy!!

***”I’ve always struggled with positive body image most of my life, being redheaded, having freckles and fair skin.  My teenage years brought more negative behaviors, which I worked hard to address, but ended up gaining weight back and more.  Finding out I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and also being single and almost 30 challenged me and my confidence. I realized no matter what size I am, I have to talk to myself in a positive way and embrace who I am in the moment —even though that task can be a difficult one!  Once I found my now HUSBAND, then boyfriendI began to see I was worthy of love no matter my size!  When he asked me to marry him at my literal heaviest weight, I knew I wanted to give him a timeless gift.  A sentimental way for him to remember me at this moment in time! I also wanted the ability to gain my confidence back and love myself the way he loves me as I am!

How you felt before…..during…..and after……Once I booked my session, I felt super excited of the experience, but also apprehensive of what I just committed to and how it would be and if I’d be able to feel confident enough in my skin.  I appreciated the encouragement to go ahead and do the session sooner, rather than wait until I was going to lose more weight for my wedding.  During my session, I was immediately put at ease as soon as I walked in the door and felt effortlessly guided along.  Heather took my dream look and made it come alive!  When I looked in the mirror I saw myself in a new light!  I felt emotional — in a good way!  I honestly felt like a vintage Hollywood star!  Her suggestion of a red lip pushed me to do something I had never done before. Seeing myself lit a spark in my heart! .  I loved how Christie guided me through each pose, and though sometimes I may have felt awkward, I trusted the process and her eye behind the camera!  The approving giggles and little jokes honestly gave me the confidence to keep going and not worry about how I looked.  The time went by and I never once felt insecure!
After my session, I felt on fire!  I walked with a little more pep in my step and couldn’t wait to come back to the reveal!  I honestly wish I could feel like that every day!  I was so happy with myself and glad I jumped in to do something not only for myself, but for my fiance!

What you ended up doing with your images…..
I got the beautifully made black leather bound photo book and the phone app to be able to surprise my Husband on our wedding night.  Boy, was it hard to pick just 30 images to go in that book!!! He knew nothing about the session, it was soo difficult to keep it a secret from him for so many months!  His reaction and the emotions that came with it was worth the wait!  He is so sweet! I also had a canvas print made, which I now hang in our bathroom as a reminder to feel beautiful everyday!

What it meant to you…This session meant not only overcoming things of my past, but propelling me into a new viewpoint of myself, and helping me build confidence as a woman!  It served as a moment in time, a moment not only I want to remember, but one that my Husband can cherish.  A moment where I became a wife and felt absolutely loved!  A renewal of self!  Something tangible I can have and look back on, on the bad days, where I may not “feel like myself”***

We absolutely love what we do here… “How lucky we are to be alive right now” means so much to me everyday (IYKYK lol!!)

Book your consultation with us today to let us tell you everything you want to know!!

xoxoxo,

Christie

A’s Story

This beauty was such a joy to work with!! Here is her story and what she had to say about this experience!!

I grew up going to private Christian schools my whole life. I was taught that women are to be homemakers, bear children, and stand by their man. I was taught that there was nowhere in leadership for women and that once a woman is married, she is to follow her husband and be his right-hand woman. As one would assume, I was immersed in “purity culture”. I wasn’t taught about sex, birth control, or pregnancy prevention. I was shown pictures of sexually transmitted infections and told that if I had sex before marriage these infections would happen to me and never go away. We got true love waits rings, took a pledge, and signed a card saying that we wouldn’t have sex before marriage. One of the most profound things that was drilled into our minds as young girls was to cover our bodies. We were told that we couldn’t wear this or that because it would tempt boys. Our dress code was stricter for girls than for the boys – our dresses and skirts had to be knee length, no V-necks or cleavage showing shirts, nothing skintight, and on school trips the beloved one piece must be worn.

I was taught at an early age that my body was not something to be glorified but rather something that could provoke sin in someone else – and of course going to Christian school we always had a hefty dose of sinning = hell talks and who wanted to go there. When I graduated in 2012 and finally went out into the “real world” I found myself (and still do) covering my body because it has been engrained into me to do that. The one thing that I have learned is that I cannot take responsibility for another’s actions – meaning – no matter what I am wearing whether it be skintight or a potato sack, it does not give anyone male or female the right to blame me for “making them sin” which is opposite of what I was taught.

It has taken me years to understand that bodies aren’t sinful. Clothes aren’t sinful. Showing off your body isn’t sinful. Sex isn’t sinful.

When I first thought about doing a boudoir shoot, I couldn’t tell anyone because I was afraid of what people would think. Why would she be doing that kind of shoot at her weight? Who does she have to give those pictures to… she’s never had a boyfriend? You have never had sex; how do you know how to be sexy? My answer to all of those questions is, if you don’t love yourself then how do you expect someone to love you in order to get all of those things.

I am a labor and delivery nurse, and Christie is also a women’s health nurse that worked downstairs from me at one time. I have seen her work through co-workers that did shoots with her and really loved it. I kept looking into her studio and style and saw that she photographed ALL women no matter size. I was also drawn to the fact that someone would do my hair and makeup because if you know me you know that I am not gifted in that area. So, I took a leap and just booked the shoot and started shopping (because I love shopping).

The day of the shoot I was so nervous. I was sitting in the makeup chair stiff as a board – like my back wasn’t even touching the back of the chair stiff. My phone rang out of the blue while getting my make up done and it was a lady calling me about a job that was opening that she wanted me to interview for – and it’s a job that I have wanted for a year or more. I finally relaxed (my back was against the chair now) and got my confidence boosted when I saw my hair and makeup.

During the shoot, I felt so comfortable with Christie, and I had so much fun. I felt beautiful. She showed me a few sneak peaks during the shoot, and I was freaking out. Was that really me? When I showed up reveal day, I had no idea what to expect and was so scared I was going to hate them… but I was SO WRONG. I couldn’t believe the person I was seeing in the pictures was me or that I saw a picture of myself and thought that I was beautiful. I did this shoot for myself and honestly, it’s the best thing I could have ever done.

Everyone should do a boudoir shoot and everyone should feel this way about themselves. Bodies aren’t sinful, they are beautiful, and are meant to be praised and looked at. So, wear the V neck, the tight pants, the short dress, the bikini – whatever you want to wear… just wear it. Whatever or whoever you want to do – just do it (with consent that is ☺ ).

Mrs. A

I love when women share their “why” with us…each person has a unique and very human experience and we are always humbled to be a part of their growth!! Now, it’s your turn too…go here to get all the deets!!

Here is (in her own words) her story…

I have struggled with insecurities related to my body image for a long time. Growing up people would say I was too skinny, anorexic, or needed to eat a biscuit.

Small comments really made me feel like I was not attractive. I always compared myself to others that were “thick” wishing I had curves like them.

I originally decided to do this because a really close friend of mine did, she told me all about her experience and how amazing it has made her feel. Her pictures were absolutely DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!

I had some reserve because I was scared that I’d look too skinny, I was afraid my insecurities would shine right through theses pictures. I thought my lips were paper thin, my legs were long and skinny, my boobs were little and no where near as “cute” as they were before breastfeeding two children, I thought I had no curves at all to show so why should I?

But I did it. I used my anniversary as an excuse as to why I wanted theses pictures, but in reality I done it for myself.

I was nervous at first, but Christie welcomed me in with open arms! I had no clue how I wanted my hair or my makeup, I never get “dolled up”, but Heather knew exactly what to and she killed it!

I was more nervous to view my pictures than I was actually taking them them.  I was afraid I was going to view them as I viewed myself in that moment.

When I arrived Christie said to me “I want you to look at theses as if it’s your best friend” and OMG girl I did!

I was overwhelmed with how beautiful they were! That girl on the screen was really me?! I cried at how amazing her and Heather both highlighted everything about me, from my lips to my legs. What I was so insecure about, I loved the most in that moment! I still do today.

Being a  beautiful person comes from the inside, but seeing your outside beauty is so important as well.

This experience was absolutely beautiful! I have my box showcased in my room on my dresser and I have no choice but to look at it daily. It’s a reminder that I am beautiful, I am sexy, and I am perfect the way God made me.

Thank you again both Heather and Christie for showing me and SO many other women how beautifully made we all individually are!

It’s Me Again…Literally

If you have ever had boudoir photography done, you know that it can be addictive! There is nothing like seeing yourself as your best version and hopefully to see a little bit of how others who love you, see you physically.

My associate, Heather, who has been doing hair and make up with me for almost five years now, was wanting to learn a little about the photography side of it. With my coaching and helping a little with the settings, she nailed these images!! I am so in love with them, have even more confidence (and I was pretty good with that already now), and it was very fun!! She may turn into a photographer too!! 😀

Here are just a few of my favorites (that I am comfortable showing anyway lol), let me know what you think and also, get in here to do your own!! We are filling up fast for the rest of 2021! Check out the website and fill out the contact form to get back all the information about a session with us, you will not be disappointed!!

Hey girl(s), heyyyyy!!!

This year, unlike last, has been flying by ridiculously fast and we are having a blast!!

I get the notion to write once in a while and it seems like I always tend to get personal when I just sit here and type, but y’all keep coming back here so, I guess you don’t mind if I take a few minutes to tell you that I am living my best life right now!! I never dreamed when I purchased my first DSLR camera back in 2005, right after I graduated from nursing school, that I would be doing photography full time and feeling like I help women more than I ever did in nursing. Women come to me and tell me their story and open up to me….this is MY therapy!! I am truly blessed!!

The confidence women tell me they gain from being nervous, scared, and vulnerable with us is the coolest thing ever. Who would have thought by shedding clothes, you could find SUCH empowerment!! That is what we offer you in our studio. It is a safe, clean, judgement free space for you to come and get pampered, have some time for yourself, and laugh way more than you can imagine you would. I tell people all the time that it is addictive! I am actually working on plans for my fourth one!

So between the 43 ladies who have graced us with their presence in front of my lens already this year, hanging out with amazing friends, golfing, eating entirely too much, Netflix binging occasionally and living life wide open because no one is promised tomorrow…here is just a few of the beautiful faces (and other body parts) that we can show you, your photos are never shown unless you sign a model release! Go visit our website today and fill out that contact form to get started on booking yours, you need to do this too!!

Shut the front door!!

She really is such a beautiful person and we had such a great time, made some TikToks, had some great conversations, and we absolutely slayed some artwork together!!

Here is Ms. K!!

The New Face of Created Wonderfully Boudoir!!

Last year I started toying with the idea of having an ambassador for two reasons…One, I wanted a lady that we could pick from the vine who defines what we feel is all too common in dealing with insecurities and struggles in so many ways and show her what we do. We also wanted to gift a lady with this experience and show her how the people in her life, see her, and how we at our studio see all of our clients.

She will be doing lots of fun things with us this year, and we are truly blessed that she came along and grabbed our attention with her beautiful spirit and her physical beauty!

Here is a little bit about her and her story and how she puts into her own words about meeting me…

I am excited to be the 2021 Ambassador for Created Wonderfully Boudoir.  At a young age, I began to struggle with low self-esteem.  I can’t remember when anxiety wasn’t a part of my daily life.  Unfortunately, this is a truth so many women carry.  My husband and I married at 18.  He was diagnosed at a young age with hereditary pancreatitis, we struggled with 7 years of infertility before we celebrated the birth of our only daughter.  She is my miracle.  Our daughter was also diagnosed at the age of 10 with hereditary pancreatitis after an ER visit with symptoms all too familiar to us.  My family faced the challenge of going from a two-income family to one after my husband’s struggle with pancreatitis and arthritis became too much for his body to continue as an electrician. We endured the long process of waiting for a disability hearing.  We have finally felt like we were recovering financially from the last several years.  The one person that I leaned on so much through all of this was my mom.  I lost her unexpectedly in July of 2020.  Once again, I find myself struggling through a “new normal.”

In my almost 44 years, I have a new appreciation for this vessel of mine that carries my heart and soul.  This body houses the heart of a mother, sister, daughter, friend, wife, caregiver advocate and so many other roles that this journey of mine has called on me to be.  I’m not perfect by any means, but I have come to realize that I am uniquely gifted to live out my life and love the ones God has given to me.  Gone is the girl who lacked the wisdom to appreciate the vessel that has allowed me to experience the most precious gifts of all, LIFE!  I think for the most part we all have a love/hate relationship with ourselves.  I want to continue to find myself less on the “hate” end. I want to have this experience to capture essence of the woman that I have become through all that life has thrown at me; I am still standing!  As the quote says, “I am proud of the woman I have become because I have fought hard to become her.”

When I met Christie, I immediately felt a “sisterhood” with her.  Christie’s heart is an encourager of women.  It is my heart as well.  I felt like I had visited with friend who had known my heart for years.  As I walked into the studio, I saw walls filled with artwork of the women who came in with their stories and overcame their own fears and insecurities.  It gives you this sense of, “I can do this too.”  In every photo, I could truly see beauty and the truth of Psalms 139 was louder than any lie that I have ever believed about myself.  “I am fearfully and wonderfully made and so are all of these women.”  As women, we are created to be soft, strong and beautiful in a world that is the complete opposite. It’s no wonder our hearts come to believe such lies. We are our own worst critics and we develop a cruel habit of looking at each other with the same critical eye.  While standing in the studio, I felt a sense that it doesn’t have to be that way.  We could all use to view ourselves in a more positive light.  We all are part of an amazing story with important roles to play.  I hope we all can see each other as we truly are, God’s handiwork.  We are truly intricate works of ART!  Although last year may not have been the most favorite chapter in my story thus far, but it has certainly been an awakening.

Peggy, you are such a wonderful person and I cannot wait to share this experience with you, you are going to be phenomenal!!

Here are a few headshots we popped out the other day, I can already tell, my camera loves her!! Can we get some LOVE on those BOOTS, EEEEEKKK!

Mama mia!!

This smokin’ hot lady right here…she is a mama of FOUR!! What the what?!?

I always tell clients that I don’t expect them to know how to “look sexy” and I will never say…”okay, give me your sexy face”…who knows how to even do that lol!!

I pose everything about you, head to toe, every person I photograph!! This rides on my skill and my having studying posing women for over eight years now! You are in great hands with us!! We have been told we make it easy!

We are booking into April and don’t want you to miss your chance to do this, as we only have limited number of sessions we do each week, so hurry and book with us NOW!!

Congratulations, you made it through 2020!!

That year shall be henceforth called, the year that shall not be named LOL!!

Looking back, it has been good for us at Created Wonderfully Boudoir Photography…we are blessed! We have had 115 wonderful new friends join us for this experience!

We have some great things we will be doing in this new year, such as our ambassador program, we have finished taking applications and are still in the interview process, but we hope to announce the one chosen on February 1st.

We are also going to have some pieces of lingerie for purchase when you come in for your shoot!! Rock it in your session, take it home with you, so cool!! We have upgraded some of our artwork products we offer, and there are so many amazing ways to keep these timeless keepsakes!

Our closed Facebook group for ladies is freakin awesome! We have so much fun in there with contests, empowerment, encouragement, and so much more! You definitely need to be in there!

Make this the year you do something for yourself (or as a couple, we do offer that!!) and learn to love yourself more!

I usually wrap up the year with some photographs, but we have a babe wall in our hair and make up room with most all the clients we have met this year, so come tour (or we can do it as a phone call, then you will see them when you come for your session!) and let me show you why we are #notyourbasicboudoir and how this is sooooo much more than just having pictures taken!!

We know it is a scary step to take, but it will be worth it, go to our website and click on “contact us” and we will email you back with all the information about what we do!! Come on, let’s have some fun in this new year!!

Thankful, grateful, blessed…

I know that sounds so cliche, but it is truly how I feel and I wanted to take a few minutes to let you all know my heart today. I am so fortunate enough that I get to do what I love every day. I have worked really hard to get here and make a viable business doing my passion, I don’t ever take that for granted. I see other photographers doing the super busy hustle of family, wedding, and kids/babies right now and it makes me even more grateful to have studied and specialized in the genre that I do. (I am sure those people love what they do as well, don’t get me wrong) I have said it many times before, give me a half naked, insecure woman and let me show her how beautiful she is in my climate controlled, bug free, studio not on weekends or holidays and my dream has been made lol.

I am thankful for my husband and son, who have put up with my whole career as a photographer and all the time that I did sacrifice from them to hone my craft and get a good fundamental knowledge of photography and business, as well as working at the time as a nurse. I know they got put on the back burner more times than I like to think about. They are now getting to enjoy (maybe? lol) more time with me, a less stressed out me, and have me hounding them more at home haha!!

My clients are one of my greatest blessings to me as well…I know there are other choices in photographers, I know I am not the cheapest, I know I am not the best ever, and I know they come to me and are very vulnerable to do this type of experience. We value our time, tools, and talents (You can’t beat Heather’s make up artistry!!) and I am glad our clients value themselves enough to want someone who has had a lot of women in front of the camera though, but we are still so excited they come to us and we still strive for it to be such a special adventure that she will want to do it with us again and again!! I know there are some people who may have negative things to say about me and my business practices (I am not a push over and demand to be respected, just as I will respect them. You can’t please everyone, if you have ever ran your own business you know this, and it is my business, so I do run it the way it has to be run to be able to keep having it) but for the most part, I feel we make a positive impact in the lives of almost every woman we have photographed.

In closing, I am so thankful for so many more things that I am sure no one wants to read all of that stuff, so I want to wrap this up by telling any other people that are reading this, I would love to help you have a better work/life balance, get some systems in place to make you feel less like you need more hours in the day, and help give you the confidence to make you own business become what you want it to be. If you would like more information about that, reach out to me at createdwonderfullyphotography@yahoo.com and we can certainly chat. This goes for other photographers, side hustle businesses who want to go full time, or any other person who just needs a little coaching in their life to make it better for you and your family!

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!!

Much love,

Christie
