Redheaded beauty!!

Y’all meet April!! What a doll baby to work with, we had sooooo much fun during her session and I can’t wait to get her back in for her next one!! Here is her story she wanted to share about this experience with us at Created Wonderfully Boudoir! Enjoy!!

***”I’ve always struggled with positive body image most of my life, being redheaded, having freckles and fair skin.  My teenage years brought more negative behaviors, which I worked hard to address, but ended up gaining weight back and more.  Finding out I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and also being single and almost 30 challenged me and my confidence. I realized no matter what size I am, I have to talk to myself in a positive way and embrace who I am in the moment —even though that task can be a difficult one!  Once I found my now HUSBAND, then boyfriendI began to see I was worthy of love no matter my size!  When he asked me to marry him at my literal heaviest weight, I knew I wanted to give him a timeless gift.  A sentimental way for him to remember me at this moment in time! I also wanted the ability to gain my confidence back and love myself the way he loves me as I am!

How you felt before…..during…..and after……Once I booked my session, I felt super excited of the experience, but also apprehensive of what I just committed to and how it would be and if I’d be able to feel confident enough in my skin.  I appreciated the encouragement to go ahead and do the session sooner, rather than wait until I was going to lose more weight for my wedding.  During my session, I was immediately put at ease as soon as I walked in the door and felt effortlessly guided along.  Heather took my dream look and made it come alive!  When I looked in the mirror I saw myself in a new light!  I felt emotional — in a good way!  I honestly felt like a vintage Hollywood star!  Her suggestion of a red lip pushed me to do something I had never done before. Seeing myself lit a spark in my heart! .  I loved how Christie guided me through each pose, and though sometimes I may have felt awkward, I trusted the process and her eye behind the camera!  The approving giggles and little jokes honestly gave me the confidence to keep going and not worry about how I looked.  The time went by and I never once felt insecure!
After my session, I felt on fire!  I walked with a little more pep in my step and couldn’t wait to come back to the reveal!  I honestly wish I could feel like that every day!  I was so happy with myself and glad I jumped in to do something not only for myself, but for my fiance!

What you ended up doing with your images…..
I got the beautifully made black leather bound photo book and the phone app to be able to surprise my Husband on our wedding night.  Boy, was it hard to pick just 30 images to go in that book!!! He knew nothing about the session, it was soo difficult to keep it a secret from him for so many months!  His reaction and the emotions that came with it was worth the wait!  He is so sweet! I also had a canvas print made, which I now hang in our bathroom as a reminder to feel beautiful everyday!

What it meant to you…This session meant not only overcoming things of my past, but propelling me into a new viewpoint of myself, and helping me build confidence as a woman!  It served as a moment in time, a moment not only I want to remember, but one that my Husband can cherish.  A moment where I became a wife and felt absolutely loved!  A renewal of self!  Something tangible I can have and look back on, on the bad days, where I may not “feel like myself”***

We absolutely love what we do here… “How lucky we are to be alive right now” means so much to me everyday (IYKYK lol!!)

Book your consultation with us today to let us tell you everything you want to know!!

xoxoxo,

Christie

A’s Story

This beauty was such a joy to work with!! Here is her story and what she had to say about this experience!!

I grew up going to private Christian schools my whole life. I was taught that women are to be homemakers, bear children, and stand by their man. I was taught that there was nowhere in leadership for women and that once a woman is married, she is to follow her husband and be his right-hand woman. As one would assume, I was immersed in “purity culture”. I wasn’t taught about sex, birth control, or pregnancy prevention. I was shown pictures of sexually transmitted infections and told that if I had sex before marriage these infections would happen to me and never go away. We got true love waits rings, took a pledge, and signed a card saying that we wouldn’t have sex before marriage. One of the most profound things that was drilled into our minds as young girls was to cover our bodies. We were told that we couldn’t wear this or that because it would tempt boys. Our dress code was stricter for girls than for the boys – our dresses and skirts had to be knee length, no V-necks or cleavage showing shirts, nothing skintight, and on school trips the beloved one piece must be worn.

I was taught at an early age that my body was not something to be glorified but rather something that could provoke sin in someone else – and of course going to Christian school we always had a hefty dose of sinning = hell talks and who wanted to go there. When I graduated in 2012 and finally went out into the “real world” I found myself (and still do) covering my body because it has been engrained into me to do that. The one thing that I have learned is that I cannot take responsibility for another’s actions – meaning – no matter what I am wearing whether it be skintight or a potato sack, it does not give anyone male or female the right to blame me for “making them sin” which is opposite of what I was taught.

It has taken me years to understand that bodies aren’t sinful. Clothes aren’t sinful. Showing off your body isn’t sinful. Sex isn’t sinful.

When I first thought about doing a boudoir shoot, I couldn’t tell anyone because I was afraid of what people would think. Why would she be doing that kind of shoot at her weight? Who does she have to give those pictures to… she’s never had a boyfriend? You have never had sex; how do you know how to be sexy? My answer to all of those questions is, if you don’t love yourself then how do you expect someone to love you in order to get all of those things.

I am a labor and delivery nurse, and Christie is also a women’s health nurse that worked downstairs from me at one time. I have seen her work through co-workers that did shoots with her and really loved it. I kept looking into her studio and style and saw that she photographed ALL women no matter size. I was also drawn to the fact that someone would do my hair and makeup because if you know me you know that I am not gifted in that area. So, I took a leap and just booked the shoot and started shopping (because I love shopping).

The day of the shoot I was so nervous. I was sitting in the makeup chair stiff as a board – like my back wasn’t even touching the back of the chair stiff. My phone rang out of the blue while getting my make up done and it was a lady calling me about a job that was opening that she wanted me to interview for – and it’s a job that I have wanted for a year or more. I finally relaxed (my back was against the chair now) and got my confidence boosted when I saw my hair and makeup.

During the shoot, I felt so comfortable with Christie, and I had so much fun. I felt beautiful. She showed me a few sneak peaks during the shoot, and I was freaking out. Was that really me? When I showed up reveal day, I had no idea what to expect and was so scared I was going to hate them… but I was SO WRONG. I couldn’t believe the person I was seeing in the pictures was me or that I saw a picture of myself and thought that I was beautiful. I did this shoot for myself and honestly, it’s the best thing I could have ever done.

Everyone should do a boudoir shoot and everyone should feel this way about themselves. Bodies aren’t sinful, they are beautiful, and are meant to be praised and looked at. So, wear the V neck, the tight pants, the short dress, the bikini – whatever you want to wear… just wear it. Whatever or whoever you want to do – just do it (with consent that is ☺ ).

It’s Me Again…Literally

If you have ever had boudoir photography done, you know that it can be addictive! There is nothing like seeing yourself as your best version and hopefully to see a little bit of how others who love you, see you physically.

My associate, Heather, who has been doing hair and make up with me for almost five years now, was wanting to learn a little about the photography side of it. With my coaching and helping a little with the settings, she nailed these images!! I am so in love with them, have even more confidence (and I was pretty good with that already now), and it was very fun!! She may turn into a photographer too!! 😀

Here are just a few of my favorites (that I am comfortable showing anyway lol), let me know what you think and also, get in here to do your own!! We are filling up fast for the rest of 2021! Check out the website and fill out the contact form to get back all the information about a session with us, you will not be disappointed!!

Hey girl(s), heyyyyy!!!

This year, unlike last, has been flying by ridiculously fast and we are having a blast!!

I get the notion to write once in a while and it seems like I always tend to get personal when I just sit here and type, but y’all keep coming back here so, I guess you don’t mind if I take a few minutes to tell you that I am living my best life right now!! I never dreamed when I purchased my first DSLR camera back in 2005, right after I graduated from nursing school, that I would be doing photography full time and feeling like I help women more than I ever did in nursing. Women come to me and tell me their story and open up to me….this is MY therapy!! I am truly blessed!!

The confidence women tell me they gain from being nervous, scared, and vulnerable with us is the coolest thing ever. Who would have thought by shedding clothes, you could find SUCH empowerment!! That is what we offer you in our studio. It is a safe, clean, judgement free space for you to come and get pampered, have some time for yourself, and laugh way more than you can imagine you would. I tell people all the time that it is addictive! I am actually working on plans for my fourth one!

So between the 43 ladies who have graced us with their presence in front of my lens already this year, hanging out with amazing friends, golfing, eating entirely too much, Netflix binging occasionally and living life wide open because no one is promised tomorrow…here is just a few of the beautiful faces (and other body parts) that we can show you, your photos are never shown unless you sign a model release! Go visit our website today and fill out that contact form to get started on booking yours, you need to do this too!!

The New Face of Created Wonderfully Boudoir!!

Last year I started toying with the idea of having an ambassador for two reasons…One, I wanted a lady that we could pick from the vine who defines what we feel is all too common in dealing with insecurities and struggles in so many ways and show her what we do. We also wanted to gift a lady with this experience and show her how the people in her life, see her, and how we at our studio see all of our clients.

She will be doing lots of fun things with us this year, and we are truly blessed that she came along and grabbed our attention with her beautiful spirit and her physical beauty!

Here is a little bit about her and her story and how she puts into her own words about meeting me…

I am excited to be the 2021 Ambassador for Created Wonderfully Boudoir.  At a young age, I began to struggle with low self-esteem.  I can’t remember when anxiety wasn’t a part of my daily life.  Unfortunately, this is a truth so many women carry.  My husband and I married at 18.  He was diagnosed at a young age with hereditary pancreatitis, we struggled with 7 years of infertility before we celebrated the birth of our only daughter.  She is my miracle.  Our daughter was also diagnosed at the age of 10 with hereditary pancreatitis after an ER visit with symptoms all too familiar to us.  My family faced the challenge of going from a two-income family to one after my husband’s struggle with pancreatitis and arthritis became too much for his body to continue as an electrician. We endured the long process of waiting for a disability hearing.  We have finally felt like we were recovering financially from the last several years.  The one person that I leaned on so much through all of this was my mom.  I lost her unexpectedly in July of 2020.  Once again, I find myself struggling through a “new normal.”

In my almost 44 years, I have a new appreciation for this vessel of mine that carries my heart and soul.  This body houses the heart of a mother, sister, daughter, friend, wife, caregiver advocate and so many other roles that this journey of mine has called on me to be.  I’m not perfect by any means, but I have come to realize that I am uniquely gifted to live out my life and love the ones God has given to me.  Gone is the girl who lacked the wisdom to appreciate the vessel that has allowed me to experience the most precious gifts of all, LIFE!  I think for the most part we all have a love/hate relationship with ourselves.  I want to continue to find myself less on the “hate” end. I want to have this experience to capture essence of the woman that I have become through all that life has thrown at me; I am still standing!  As the quote says, “I am proud of the woman I have become because I have fought hard to become her.”

When I met Christie, I immediately felt a “sisterhood” with her.  Christie’s heart is an encourager of women.  It is my heart as well.  I felt like I had visited with friend who had known my heart for years.  As I walked into the studio, I saw walls filled with artwork of the women who came in with their stories and overcame their own fears and insecurities.  It gives you this sense of, “I can do this too.”  In every photo, I could truly see beauty and the truth of Psalms 139 was louder than any lie that I have ever believed about myself.  “I am fearfully and wonderfully made and so are all of these women.”  As women, we are created to be soft, strong and beautiful in a world that is the complete opposite. It’s no wonder our hearts come to believe such lies. We are our own worst critics and we develop a cruel habit of looking at each other with the same critical eye.  While standing in the studio, I felt a sense that it doesn’t have to be that way.  We could all use to view ourselves in a more positive light.  We all are part of an amazing story with important roles to play.  I hope we all can see each other as we truly are, God’s handiwork.  We are truly intricate works of ART!  Although last year may not have been the most favorite chapter in my story thus far, but it has certainly been an awakening.

Peggy, you are such a wonderful person and I cannot wait to share this experience with you, you are going to be phenomenal!!

Here are a few headshots we popped out the other day, I can already tell, my camera loves her!! Can we get some LOVE on those BOOTS, EEEEEKKK!

Sweeeeet Car-O-Line…dunn dunn dunnnnn

sorry, I was channeling some Neil Diamond for a minute lol!!

Seriously, this one was an amazing fun session with such a precious lady!! I had never met her before, but we just clicked and had the best time! She was getting ready to face a crazy scary, stressful, insane week so this was a little distraction from her reality in that moment. Thankfully, all things that were feared for her, did not come to pass and everything is good!

Here is a little snippet from her reveal when she got to see the photographs…it is my favorite part!! (Forgive the crappy video quality, that is not my forte, and she also didn’t know I was videoing her until afterward, I wanted her real reaction…she had said before she was okay with us recording her, but I was still sneaky about it lol) Women are not used to loving photos of themselves so it can be very emotional…I have so many tears during this time, it’s a wonderful thing to fall in love with how you see yourself!!

We realize most women have never done this before and are nervous about it. We can tell you all about our process and answer all of your questions with a quick 10-15 minute chat on the phone, or if you want to see the studio and meet me, we can do that!! Get on my calendar so you have my undivided attention!

Here are a few of her photos that made her cry and she did walk away with some really nice artwork…a little black book, a 20×30 metal, and a phone app!!! What are YOU waiting for, we are booking for 2021 now and we would love for you to come do this for your birthday (or the week of if we can’t get right on your day) and let us celebrate you even more!!

Pop, Boom, Kapow!!

Is it Fourth of July? I swear this girl is a firecracker! She came in nervous and shy, but in just a few minutes that all went away and she totally made my “job” easier than it usually is…

I can never get enough of the high I get, from seeing these women who come to us and trust our experience, go from insecure and sometimes scared to death…to the end of the session where they are so relaxed in such a vulnerable state and actually having fun.

When they come back in to view and purchase their photos, most of them tell me it’s a hard decision, because they love them all….photographs of themselves…they LOVE them…how often does that happen?? That’s a cool feeling for me that I have helped them love soooo many photos of themselves and they truly didn’t expect to. I have said it again and I will say it a thousand times more….I LOVE WHAT I DO!! Empowering women freakin rocks!!

This sweet young lady was no different in that she was struggling to decide which ones she loved the most. We got her into something in her budget that she loves, and I hope she treasures them and this confidence she gained, for a lifetime!!

We can’t wait to hear from you, did you know all of our sessions include hair and make up from our team? This make up was done by Heather (as about 98% of them are that are on our website)…We currently have a special going on so get on our calendar to book some time to chat with us at no obligation!!

Anniversary gift!

There is nothing better than wanting to gift someone you love with YOU!! I have people tell me all the time that they are doing this for someone else, but it truly ends up being just as much for themselves…women are so so so self critical and it really does suck that we want to nitpik every little thing about our body, when the people in our life who love us, could care less about those things we see as “flaws”. Think about it, do you pick apart your best friend and their body? I hope the answer is NO (if not then you’re not a good client for me lol), but so then why do we do it to ourselves? Ridiculous!!

Anyway, off my soap box now…This mama right here killed her session with us!! She was so much fun and such a beauty, in every way! She picked up a nice little album, a metal print, and some digitals to have as keepsakes and reminders of how she felt about herself that day.

I would love to personally chat with you about your session, you can do this too!! We can schedule a quick phone call or if you want to tour the studio and see the client closet and get a better personalization for your experience, use this link here and if you want a phone call, just note that on the form, and also check out our website!!

Thank you A for giving me the honor to photograph you, you are amazing!! <3

Newness…

We recently did some studio renovations and got some new, awesome pieces of furniture, new bedding sets, new couch, new paint color, new client closet design, new lots of things…but what has stayed the same, is that we have the most gorgeous clients!!

This fiery red head (which we have had an abundance of this year and we LOVE it!!!) was simply stunning!! We had a great time, and did some amazing art!! She is getting a nice album, a couple of metal prints, some digitals, AND a complimentary shoot to come back and do it again with us!!

This passion to help women show their confidence UNAPOLOGETICALLY is what makes us love what we do. This is not “dirty” or “porn”…if you do feel that way, then kindly get out of here!! Ask any client that has ever been in front of my camera, this is alllllll about empowering women to see their true self and love who they are in their own skin!!

So I’m out with a mic drop and this bombshell who is badass and sweet, just the perfect combination!! <3

Viral!!

This bombshell was such a blast to work with!! She was willing to let us experiment with making a TikTok during her session. My associate Heather did the recording during the shooting and we posted it…it went viral (which is still so cool to me that so many people saw something of ours lol). To date it has over 832K views!!! Which, I mean she is a beauty so I don’t know why I am so surprised!!!

When I show women a few shots during their shoot, from the back of my camera, there are lots of different emotions that they have…quite often I see tears, then I have to say something silly or stupid to keep the waterworks down so we don’t have to retouch their makeup lol, or very often I hear “is that me?”….yes, honey I promise I could not have switched photographs in the 0.5 seconds it took to turn this camera around, or a lot of times they are just speechless and in awe of themselves!! I say it during every shoot because I mean it with my whole heart…I LOVE WHAT I DO!!!

I am here for you every step of the way with this experience! This is my passion and my therapy! When you book with me, you get my cell phone number and there are never any dumb questions, you will never be getting on my nerves, and I am not judgmental at all, so bring on all your questions! You also get a client portal that has everything in one place for you to reference quickly to different links to recommended vendors, and other information about your shoot and how to prepare.

Get in touch with us today, we are booking up fast for the rest of the year!!

Enjoy Ms. N!!
