Excitement, as usual!

Hey everyone!! June 1st, here we are, I feel like I have been in a whirlwind…

As you may know, I am a nurse, I have always had a passion for women’s health, this is why I find such fulfillment in doing boudoir photography, it’s not just pictures, these women walk out of our studio with a new found part of themselves…One that’s brave and fierce, not to mention beautiful!!!  Anyway, you get it, I love what I do!!

When my husband and I got married seven years ago, we went through infertility treatments for a year, I was working in mother/baby at a large hospital…not a great place to work when you want a baby of your own and it won’t happen.  So I left that area and since then have done a few different things in nursing, from insurance work to hospice care.  I had gotten burned out on the whole nursing thing, it is truly exhausting on so many levels.  But then…I applied for a job at WFUBMC’s new Birth Center back in April and was offered a position. I started April 22 and since then it has been crazy lol.  The Birth Center isn’t open yet, and to this day we still haven’t been told the date it will be, but I am super excited about it.  I am glad (in some ways) that we didn’t get pregnant back then, and I have closed that chapter of my life, now on to grand-babies one of the years way in the future, my son graduates high school next Saturday!

My photography has taken a back seat for the past six weeks while I have been training Monday-Friday, but now we are excited to be booking more shoots again. There have still been a few and I am working on getting some fresh pictures out to show you all soon!! We have a couple of spots open for wedding in the fall and for next year as well, we are working on a website for that type of photography too!

Now is the perfect time to book your shoot, we have some specials going on for June, get in touch with us to chat about how we can show you a new side of yourself!!  336-710-8567 or Created Wonderfully Boudoir

Ready for the wrap…

Where in the heck has this year gone to?  I swear it just seems like yesterday I was gearing up for 2017 and here we are sliding into 2018 already!

This year…wow, I never dreamed up the things that would have occurred in my life.  Lots and lots of personal growth, which is sometimes painful, but oh so rewarding too…I started up the year as a hospice nurse and it was where I needed to be for the time, but ending up the year saying goodbye to hospice and into critical care in a hospital and thinking about travel nursing in the future.

I have learned I do not need to be around negative people who always have something bad to say about others, and have found the coolest circle of people that are amazing and love me and I feel don’t talk about me when I leave their presence.  Which, not that I care if anyone talks about me or not, just don’t need that in my circle lol.

There have been so many changes in this last part of 2017…a new studio, a new lingerie shop, a new job, some new friends, a new view on where my life is going, a new dog (my son’s, but you all know how that ends up, she is mine now lol) and also some big changes coming in 2018 that will be a transition as well…everything I do is a work in progress and if I wasn’t busy all the time, I wouldn’t know how to act lol.

I am so very thankful to all of my clients that I have had the immense pleasure of working with this year, I hope they carry some new confidence with them due, in part, to what we do, but mainly because they have found that inner umph to be what they want to be!!

Here are a few highlights of the past 365 days…I am excited to meet the people that will make up my 2018 and be a highlight of my year in the next 365!!!

Exciting news…and a sweet little video

I haven’t posted much about my life lately, mainly because I have been too busy living it to be able to pause and write about it…but there are lots of changes coming!!

First of all, we will be moving to a new location soon, there will, of course, be more information on that coming in the next few weeks (P.S. it’s PeRfEcT :D).  We are still booking appointments and are almost booked up for September and October (get in touch SOON if you are thinking of doing this for Christmas!!!).

Second, I am in the process of revamping my website, it’s just always a work in progress and I will be incorporating some professional help too.  There will also be more package options and different price points to suit every budget!

Third, we are now offering something really cool that I have came up with and named “alpha-body” sessions.  That’s where we take parts of your body and the shape of it, to spell out words, such as your lovers name or some other significant word that means something to you.  These sessions are so cool and I have examples at the studio that you can see!!

Lastly, I just love this shoot so much, she truly rocked it, so I made a little video to share too! I hope you all have a great day, thanks for stopping by and reading!!

Double the fun!!

Here are a few more from recent couples sessions we did…I LOVE capturing the connection between people, from the laughs and smiles, to the sexy looks they have for one another…..and these peeps all rocked it!!! They all had to step out of their comfort zone and it was harder to do for the men than the women sometimes!!!  When it was all said and done, they all had such a fun time and have all said they would love to do it again. It is a great experience to have together and would make a great anniversary, engagement, or just make a new special occasion together!

Flash Back Friday

As we shoot at our new second location tomorrow for the first time, I feel the need to look back a bit at how far we have come…it’s hard to believe that in a few months, we will have been in the studio for two years!!  Wow, I am amazed and blessed to be doing what I do and to have the goals that I do.  I could not do this without my fabulous team and my clients who come in as clients, but leave as friends.  I love what I do so much! So, let’s look back at some of the wonderful people who have walked up my steps and had fun with us!  (Some of my best work can’t be shown publicly, if you ever want to see more and just meet me to ask all of your questions, let me know and we will make it happen!)

Dangerous Beauties…

So, I have had the serious crud the last couple of weeks and have been neglecting this blog…sorry about that!!

Here are a few of the ladies who joined us for an event we did for Valentine’s Day!  Yes, we allow weapons as long as they are unloaded and we trust you lol!!

I hope all of your loves enjoyed the gifts you gave them, and I hope all you readers enjoy their gorgeousness!!  Thanks to part of my awesome team Adrienne Horton and Taylor Sanders for such a busy fun filled day!

(No photographers were harmed during the shoot (ha! no pun intended…maybe…yes, I am a dork))

Secrets

This was a fun sneaky little thing that happened…this couple got engaged earlier this year and all of their friends thought they were coming out on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon to have engagement photos done…well, that isn’t what happened.  They wanted to have these “wedding” pictures done, then get married at a later date and the save the date invites they have sent out are actually to their reception party they will be having next fall, because they already tied the knot!!

Crystal came to the studio that day and Heather did her make up for her, then when she was ready, they had their first look outside.  They chose to do these on Main Street in Mount Airy, because that’s where they had their first date.  There are some nice people in our little town too, during one shot we were out in the middle of the street and a car pulled up sideways and offered to block off traffic for us if we were going to be shooting anymore out there….so sweet!

Crystal made a gorgeous retro looking bride, with her dress from the 50’s, and her and Ryan are so cute together!!  I wish them so much love together for the rest of their lives!!  Thank you for letting us be a part of this cool day for you!!

A day in the life

I wish I had a clone of myself…one that knew how my mind NEVER stops going….never, and could do some of the endless tasks I do.  It is utterly exhausting most of the time.  I envy my husband, who can lay down at night, and be asleep in 5.9 seconds and there I lay, TRYING to shut my mind up to be able to go to sleep.  I have two full time jobs and do a pretty good job of keeping it all going.  My house work, very lacking. My down time, sorely neglected (glad I took my mini vacay in August). I thrive on being busy though, even as tiring as it all is, life is fabulous right now.  My new job, stressful indeed, but I know I am where I belong right now.  But here is just a snippet of a typical day in my life…

5am~ wake up usually before my husbands’ clock goes off and lay there until he gets up at 5:10

5:12~lay in bed and check emails and skim Facebook until my bladder says I must get up (I always have the hope I will be able to go back to sleep after Robert leaves…rarely happens…like three times a year, maybe)

5:30~ get up with the intentions of showering first, but usually drink my coffee while I edit a few pictures

6:30~ rush to take said shower because a few pictures turned into a lot more (or blogging, or updating my website, or replying to an email or message, or etc…you get the point)

7:15~get out the door to take kid to school, sit in the car and wait another ten minutes for the teenager who never gets in a hurry, even though I am losing my mind and honking the horn

8:00~arrive at my full time job that actually pays me lol and set messages to auto reply for my business, then there is so much that goes on in this time frame that there is no way I could put it all in this blog

5:00~ check messages and emails and Facebook and get back to all the stuff that has went on from 8-5; schedule clients, hair stylists, make up artists and myself; grab food as I head to the studio

5:30~reveals…this is one of my most favorite things to do, I love seeing clients see their images…it’s the best!! Or sometimes we have shoots at this time, which is one of my other favorite things to do (then I don’t get home until about 9)

6:30~home to edit a few more pictures for a couple of minutes, or work on album design, or blog, or advertise, and plan on seeing my kid and husband for a bit

10:00~realize that it is my bedtime and I can’t see straight anymore and my family has been without me again, so I go to bed

10:05~realize I am wide awake now, so I pick up a book

11:00~finally have read enough that my brain will be quite and I can go to sleep

Repeat 5-6 days a week haha!!

There you have just an idea of what it’s like to have my crazy busy life, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!!  ( I really do see my family more than I have let on, but still not as much as I’d like to, but one is a teenager and he only needs me for food, and the hubby is just about as busy as I am with all he does…)

Living the dream and loving life!!
